While we always try to get the nearest and best healthcare treatment for our patients, there are still particular specialties that are missing or inexistent in Laos, that force us to look across borders for solutions.

During this pandemic, we’ve started to get used to Air Ambulance evacuation from Laos to Malaysia, UK, or Thailand.

Today is actually the first time in 2 years that we managed to get one of our patients across the border, by land, from Vientiane to Udon Thani, Thailand. This picture illustrates the Thai hospital team taking over our patients at the Lao-Thai Friendship bridge.

But this pandemic has taught us that the Laos healthcare system has truly improved so much since we started our Medical Assistance operations in Laos in 2015. Which is great news.
